How to Beat Traffic like a Pro?
In another article, we talked about PJ (click here to read), which is a lively satellite township with a great population next to KL.
This time, we’re looking at another town neighbouring KL – Cheras.
(Fun fact: Cheras is a town that spans across KL and Selangor.)
A self-sustaining township, Cheras has got pretty much everything one needs. In other words, if you were to live and stay in Cheras and Cheras only, you would be able to survive just fine. Thanks to its proximity to the City Centre and self-sustaining nature, Cheras is indeed a popular choice for both homebuyers and investors alike.
But… Cheras so jam lah
Ah, here comes the ‘but’. While Cheras is great in terms of convenience and connectivity, many would agree that traffic is its biggest pain point. We all know that being stuck on the road for a prolonged time can contribute to a certain amount of stress.
It’s not completely hopeless, though. In this article we are going to share a few quick tips on how you can work your way around the traffic, and like a PRO no less!
1. Just Take the MRT, seriously.
It’s not that I want to state the obvious here, but this is hands down the best way to avoid congestion on the road.
For nine-to-fivers living in Cheras and commuting to KL every day during peak hours, this is a fortunate news. The Sungai Buloh – Kajang MRT line goes through several major commercial hubs, including stations from Bukit Bintang and Tun Razak Exchange, to Bandar Utama and Phileo Damansara.
One of the perks of taking the MRT is that you can spend some time unwinding, be it through reading or catching up on the Netflix series or K-drama you’re currently hooked on.
2. Shop First, Go Home Later
Who says there are no shopping malls in Cheras? In fact, Cheras Leisure Mall, Sunway Velocity Mall, MyTOWN Shopping Centre are Cheras locals’ go-to destinations for a satisfying retail therapy session. It’s worth noting that Sunway Velocity and MyTOWN Shopping Centre are equipped with direct MRT access, via Maluri MRT Station and Cochrane MRT station respectively.
3. Go Furniture Hunting in IKEA Cheras
Another good news for Cheras locals. Now you don’t have to brave the traffic to Damansara, because IKEA is now in Cheras!
Whether you want to furnish your new home or give your home a makeover with some Scandinavian aesthetics, you can simply make a trip to IKEA, place your orders, get it delivered and take the MRT home!
Also, while you’re there, enjoy some meatballs and chicken wings.
4. Have A Good Cup of Coffee Before You Go
Yes, Cheras is keeping up with the trend and becoming more hipster now. There are a few good coffee spots where one can spend some time relaxing first, as an escape from the busy traffic on the road.

5. Jalan Jalan Cari Makan at Connaught Pasar Malam
A popular venue among Cheras people, Connaught Pasar Malam is widely known as one of the longest night markets in Malaysia. On every Wednesday evening, not only do locals, but also people from other parts of Klang Valley would pay Connaught Pasar Malam a visit to fix their cravings for yummy street food!
6. Live in a Strategic Location
The five tips above are, at best, ways to work around the traffic in Cheras. To enjoy the conveniences in a traffic jam-free Cheras, living in the right location plays an important role.
YOU CITY III by OSK Property is just this spot. Located in Cheras 9th mile, YOU CITY III sprawls over 5.5-acres, consisting of two 39-storey towers of Serviced Residences.
